Fences built straight and set to stay
A fence is only as straight and sturdy as its posts. We lay out lines carefully, set posts at the proper depth for Maryland's frost conditions, and make sure gates hang square so they open and latch smoothly for years. On sloped lots we step or rake the fence to follow the grade cleanly.
Before digging, utilities are marked through Maryland's Miss Utility system, and we work with your property line information so the fence goes where it should.
Choosing a fence style
Vinyl privacy fencing is popular across Calvert County because it never needs painting and stays bright with an occasional wash. Pressure-treated wood fencing offers a classic look at a lower initial cost and can be stained to match a deck. Picket, split-rail and decorative styles work well for front yards and defining garden spaces.
We also build fencing around pools, patios and play areas, and we can match fence and deck railing styles so the whole back yard feels consistent.
HOA and neighborhood requirements
Many neighborhoods in Dunkirk, Huntingtown, Bowie and Waldorf have homeowners association rules about fence height, style and color. We recommend getting HOA approval before installation and are happy to provide details about materials and layout for your application.

Fencing FAQ
Do I need a permit for a fence in Calvert County?
Fence requirements depend on height, location and whether the property is in the Critical Area or a historic district. Many standard residential fences do not need a building permit, but HOA approval is often required. We can help you check before installation.
Vinyl or wood fence — which is better?
Vinyl costs more initially but needs almost no maintenance. Wood costs less up front and has a natural look but needs periodic staining or sealing. Both can last many years when posts are set correctly.
How long does fence installation take?
Most residential fences are installed in one to a few days once materials arrive and utilities are marked.
Who marks the utilities before digging?
Maryland requires a Miss Utility locate request before digging. Utility lines are marked before posts are set.
Can you install a fence on a slope?
Yes. Fences can be stepped or racked to follow the ground, and we choose the method that looks best and leaves the fewest gaps.
